No need to let the festive season get in the way of that fit and sexy summer body you've worked hard on.
Ambassador for the Australian Institute of Fitness and one of Australia’s most influential health and fitness experts, Michelle Bridges, shares her tips on how to stay focused on your health and fitness whilst enjoying the holidays.. And, how best to plan for an even fitter and healthier 2016.
“We tend to be super busy at Christmas time, so I love using timers and Tabata is a quick results orientated style of training where you choose an exercise (eg body weight squats) and workout as hard as you can for 20 secs and rest for 10 secs. Do 8 rounds - total 4mins. Awesome!
‘Also, don't go to ALL the parties you are invited to. Choose which ones you will and which you won't. Then, from the ones you will now select which ones you will drink at and which ones you won't. Be the driver. Don't bring the party home with you. In other words, yes it's the silly season, but it does not need to get through your front door. At home it's business as usual. In fact pump up your nutrition and water intake at home to combat it.”
New Year New You - Michelle's tips for setting New You Resolutions
Choose one or two things you would like to change. No more.
Find your why. WHY do you want to change? Dig deep and find meaning and depth to it. And keep this in the forefront of your mind.
Be consistent. You've tried the on/off approach; learn from its lack of steadfast common sense.
Avoid the all or nothing approach, you tried it, it didn't work either right?
Embrace when the wheels fall off (as they will, that's called being a human). The pain or anguish you feel is a growth spurt in your personal development. Be smart. Learn from it. Grow from it. Become better from it. Oh, and be kind to yourself!
