Over the last month, while basking in the sparkling Sydney summer, I've indulged in more than my fair share of good food.
Here's a little slice of a few of my favourite cafe and restaurant haunts in Sydney's eastern suburbs.
Warning - daily yoga classes required when indulging so frequently!!
This boutique cafe located next to a 24/7 gym in Bondi Junction has deservedly built itself a reputation as a go-to for clean, lean, paleo, organic loving foodies. Their selection of good eats honours the earth and local producers. Servings are generous and nutrient dense.
I ate the sweet potato pat tie with smashed avocado and carrots, pumpernickel bread with smoked salmon and a mixed salad plate with peas, mint, nectarine and cabbage. It was beyond satisfying!
ABOUT LIFE NATURAL MARKETPLACE
With various locations across Sydney, including a fancy new outpost in Double Bay, Aboutlife is making a serious impression upon the wellness scene in Sydney. Each marketplace offers a cafe and all their products and dishes are 100% natural and free from artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners, preservatives and trans fats.
I ate the Nourishing Bowl - a choice of brown rice or quinoa topped with sautéed seasonal veggies, nori, tahini and sesame seeds.
Cafe by day and wine bar by night, P&P sits on Ramsgate avenue with a view so near to North Bondi Beach you can easily hop from sand to stool for your brekky, brunch or lunch between swims. Fresh-baked breads and muffins, a-class barista coffee and a hearty menu. For breakfast I sipped on green juice from Botanica Life and shared a Green Pea Pancake with smashed egg, avocado, feta and mint salad. But it was hard to pass up the Green Brekky Bowl with kale, spinach, quinoa, coriander, egg, avocado and mint.
Tucked away in North Bondi, this cafe slash mini market serves up nutritiously superior food that promotes sustainable farming and husbandry - that means no toxic chemicals or animal cruelty has tainted their menu. After a quinoa breakfast bowl with fresh summer fruits and coconut yoghurt and green cleanser smoothie I can't go past a raw dessert from their treat space. The menu serves up the best in organic fare for breakfast and lunch.
This vegan and raw food cafe in Bondi Junction has been pulling in customers who care about what they put in their body since opening in 2012. Raw food chef Julie Mitsios of Conscious Choice is the woman behind the hit destination that offers communal tables and a courtyard to enjoy good food and company in. I'm addicted to their kale salad but recently enjoyed the Greenola and Give Me Love smoothie (chocolate enthusiasts don't miss this!) for my last breakfast in Sydney before jetting back to New York there.
